Nomination for development of International Standards

HKITF has been invited by the HKSAR Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) to nominate interested parties to participate in the development of International Standards.

International Standards on I.T. falls into ISO/IEC JTC1 (International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission Joint Technical Committee 1) which presently has 17 SCs (Sub-Committees) with various WGs (Working Groups). Our members are encouraged to participate in the development of International Standards not only to contribute our expertise but also to benefit our Members and the I.T. industry in Hong Kong as a whole by following up the development process to be aware of any forthcoming changes so that we can voice out our concerns or to make advance preparations.

Please check which of the SCs and WGs you are interested in and our Secretariat (Email: info@hkitf.org.hk) will assist to submit the nomination to ITC who is the official representative of the HKSAR Government as a Correspondent Member (Hong Kong SAR is not a sovereign state and therefore not a full member and therefore with no voting rights). Of course, it will be ideal if our Members can follow up by attending the meetings which may be very costly as they will have meetings all over the world. However you can also contribute by reviewing the documents and submitting your comments and proposals in the prescribed format. Contributions (comments and proposals) can be submitted to ITC for acceptance as a contribution from Hong Kong (as a Correspondent Member) or you can submit as a Personal Contribution.

As per discussion with ITC, each delegate will be responsible for all their own expenses. There is no cost for receiving the documents even by mail - ITC will receive the documents and then distribute them to each of the Hong Kong delegates. But of course, most of the documents will be distributed electronically anyway. The ultimate decision on the nomination will be with ITC.
